As Seen Through My Specs

I’ll say one thing about Mary Sullivan, she knows how to raise handsome, generous and loving sons.  Seriously, how does one family have so many handsome brother?  Don’t know how, but I don’t care because I love them all and want to send Mary a muffin basket to say “Great Job, Thanks!”

Ryan and Vicki have been friends sine they were teenagers.  An unlikely pair, the shy pretty sculpture  artist and the handsome popular jock.  She saved his life, and in return he promised that when the day came that she needed him he’d be there.  Through the years, even through her failed marriage and his womanizing swinging bachelor days, their friendship endured.

Years later and that day has come, and while at a celebration for Chloe and Chase’s new baby he gets a frantic text from Vicki asking for his help, imploring him to come quickly.  Without another thought he rushes to her side and steps right into the role of pretending to be her boyfriend, and helping her stave of a lecherous art patron.   Not only does he swoop in with support and a toe-curling kiss, but seizing the opportunity fate has set before him he extends the offer of one night pretend boyfriend to one week pretend boyfriend to save her from that sleazy art dude.

See here’s the thing, he’s been in love with her for a long time, and missed his chance when he had it, Fates thrown her back into his path and he’s going to grab it.

And here’s the other thing, she’s been in love with him too, but he was handsome and the cool jock, he could never love someone plain like her, even though she’d wished so hard he could.

This was the sweetest and gentlest of the Sullivan stories, we don’t get fights, or drama, we get two people who finally realize their feeling for one another and work to build on them.  Ryan isn’t running away from fate and love, hes running towards it full out.

Oh sure we have a twist here, a turn there, but mostly the realization that sometimes your Fate has been standing before you the whole time… and isn’t that a wonderful thing to finally realize?
